The "intellectuals" feel that raising taxes is good for the economy. People with common sense know that raising taxes hurts the economy. Intellectuals believe labor unions help people.People with common sense know that labor unions make companies less competitive. An example is the US Postal Service, which may lay off 685,000 because they cannot compete with the free market.There are many more specific examples.
